    Pre-order

I’m currently still playing with the Shopify system because I was hoping to set up a 50% deposit for pre-orders rather than full 100%. If you do want to secure an order ASAP and prefer to deposit 50% only, shoot me an email!

Pre-ordering is simple. You can chose your size and colour of the items available for pre-order (Weekend Shorts and Racing Dress) and go through the shop. Once I receive enough orders for that product I’ll email you letting you know I’m going into production.

Production takes between 3-5weeks and while all fabric/fastenings are in stock, timing depends on other work that the manufacturers, CGT, have on at that time. We will do out best to get these to you as soon as possible. We will email you to notify you when they are despatched.

If at any point between pre-order and receiving goods you decide you no longer want the product, get in touch, and we’ll give you a store credit for the deposit amount you paid.

  • Delivery

We would love all of our orders to be dispatched through our mates at Momentum Messenger. It’s better for the planet, better for road congestion, better for you to receive your parcel from a local on a bike, and more often than not, you’ll get your parcel faster! For this service, we charge $10, and if your order is placed before noon, you will receive your parcel that afternoon or the following day. Unfortunately, this small business owner works a few part-time gigs and can not always be home in the mornings to receive and dispatch orders. We will do our best to get your order to you as fast as possible.  We realise cycle delivery isn’t always feasible. If you live outside these Momentum Messenger delivery range zones, we will have to dispatch your order via Australia Post. We charge $10 flat-rate shipping fee with Australia Post for all Australian orders or $15 for express. Delivery times are based on their terms and can be accessed here.

If your order will not be delivered within the time-frame specified at ordering we will notify you and try to rectify the situation as quickly as is practically possible.

    International orders

We will happily ship items overseas. Shipping costs range from $10-$20 for standard international postage, with a tracking code. You are also welcome to purchase insurance for your parcel. Due to varying costs between country and parcel size and weight, if you would like an item please get in touch and we will only charge you what we pay for shipping your order to you. Contact us at hi@tobarwynandback.com

    Pick up

This option is not encouraged as we do not have an office space or 9-5 business location, and rather, operate from a bedroom between part-time gigs. However, if you would like to speak with us about a local pick-up in Melbourne, please email us at hi@tobarwynandback.com

    Order fulfilment

Once your order has been placed you will receive email confirmation stating the details of the transaction. If we are unable to fulfil your order following our order acknowledgement, we will contact you by email or telephone advising you of this. We will endeavour to process and dispatch your order in no more than 2 business days. You will receive a follow up email when your order has been handed over to the chosen delivery service provider, and you may receive a further email from us regarding feedback, as we are committed to improving and evolving our products.

  • Payment Options

Our Shopify store accepts Direct Deposit, PayPal and all major credit and debit cards. Additionally, we offer payments through Afterpay, and you will be able to select this option at checkout.

Payment processing is completed by Shopify, and for information regarding privacy of your details, please refer to our Privacy Policy

  • the Technology

In order to communicate tech characteristics to you guys, I designed some little icons that I think pretty clearly indicate a feature/ as opposed to those really cryptic icons made of squares and water droplets and dotted lines and look like they should be in a science journal.

If you’d like a more in-depth description of our research into fabric technology, and links to other sources of information regarding textile tech, you’ll find it here.

    Antimicrobial

/ means the fabrics inhibits the growth of micro-organisms. i.e. bacteria, fungi, yeast and algae, that can cause odours and degradation of fabric.

    Durable

/ can handle more wear and tear than standard fabrics.

    Hi-Vis

/ this fabric stands out and you can see it from a distance.

    Insulative

/ this fabric keeps your warmth in, or reduces heat-loss for the wearer

    Locally Milled Fabric

/ this refers to fabric that was made here - in Melbourne!

    Moisture-wicking

/ this means the fabric ‘wicks’ sweat away from the garments.

    Quick-dry

/ this means the fabric can be dried relatively quickly!

    Recycled fabric

/ this means there are some fibres that have been salvaged from waste and put into a new product rather than using all virgin fibres.

    Retro-reflective

/ AKA reflective, this means that a fabric appears to be glowing when viewed from the same angle as a light source.

    Stretch

/ it’ll move with you! Wither the full garment or parts are stretchy and allow for movement/activity.

    Sun protection

/ this means the garment offers more protection from UV rays that a ‘regular’ item of clothing - has a good UPF (ultraviolet protection factor).

    Water repellent

/ this means not easily penetrated by water.

  • Care Instructions

Please refer to garment swing tags for care. If you have any queries or concerns, please get in touch with me via email at hi@tobarwynandback.com.

    Reflective garments

Reflective garments such as the Street Vest or pocket flap on the Weekend Shorts, must be cared for with extra care, so I mention this here.

The reflective fabric and vinyl (all 3M) is composed of many tiny glass beads, and a layer of 'glue' on top to keep them together and provide some protection. This top layer is susceptible to being worn away by bleach and harsh stain removers. In fact, in trying to treat some new garments for minor production errors, I tried using stain remover and even though I was exceptionally careful to not use it near the reflective decal, some of the glue coating has been stripped back in the wash so it looks a little scratched. I, personally don't mind this, clothing that looks like it's been worn and used, but if you'd like a like-new garment, please only use regular soap, wash inside out or by itself, in cold water (reflective fabric doesn't like high heat), and lay flat to line dry. Not dryer, no dry-cleaning, no ironing!

  • Sizing

When I set out to produce these garments I always wanted to do ‘real’ sizes, however when I learned about ‘standard’ sizing and the intricacies of production (cutting, digital grading, MOQs) I realised that it would be almost impossible to accommodate all people with one small run of 60-80 units per style. I decided to start with ‘Small, Medium and Large’ based on medium being me and my brother and my close mates Kiki and Lachie (there was a bit of range in a Medium I found) the more petite mates I had by going down one standard size, and then going up one standard size.

Much later down the track when I could afford to produce final samples and do test fits I made some minor changes to patterns, and shifted the gown patterns down a size – as I felt the ‘Large’ was much closer to a standard Medium. As such, I would love to produce a larger size, but I need to gauge interest first as it’s an expensive item to produce! So please get in touch if you have an interest in this.

As such, please refer below to measurements of flat garments (not of bodies) and email us at hi@tobarwynandback.com if you have any queries not covered here. Please include the style you are intending to purchase and your measurements. Pre-orders of the Weekend Shorts and Racing Dress are available and I can supply sizes for trying on if you’d like. Just shoot me an email at hi@tobarwynandback.com / ta!

What I’ve been able to produce is a selection of garments that suit a limited segment of people, which is a bummer. I’m really sorry if the provided sizing doesn’t accommodate you / but I’d really love to change this. Please get in touch and I will do my very best to accommodate you. Thank you in advance for your time and understanding as I learn how to best navigate the issue of sizing in small-run production in Australia.
